Already Free, Now Extra Free: Pause & Breathe, Ember, and Cancer Self Care
A week ago I posted about why I built Pause & Breathe. There was a parenthetical in it I really disliked, but it had to be there to be true:
"No way to even purchase the app (there is a gratitude tip section. The app NEVER nudges you towards it)."
It was true at the time. It wasn't the truth I wanted forever and it kept nagging at me.
The "gratitude tip section" was an in-app purchase. Optional. Never nudged. But still... a button. A tiny line on the App Store that states "In-App Purchases". I felt like if I didn't add those parentheses, it wasn't 100% transparent.
That tiny line on the app store has forever disappeared. It's gone now. Poof. Goodbye 👋
From three apps.
Pause & Breathe.

Ember.

Cancer Self Care.

No in-app purchases. No gratitude tip section. No way at all, from inside the app or the App Store, for you to give me gratitude donations, a part of which is for them. The only outbound link in each one now points to a charity I picked because it fits what the vibe of the app is about or is near and dear to me (or both).
You can see them all posted plainly here: https://sillydroose.com/donations (with automatic quarterly running updates).
These three apps mean too much to me to leave ANY kind of "money button" on them. They're Free, and they will stay Free. They are meant for humans in need and I refuse to charge anything for that.
Most of the other apps still have the optional 4 tiered gratitude jar with 60% net portion going to that specific apps charity, or as described in the app. But for these 3? No. Whatever I have to figure out, I'll figure out somewhere else.
Looking at the donations ledger makes me smile. I can sleep at night doing things this way. Money may or may not ever come, I do not know. I'd prefer it did come in some form, but it's fine if not. Money must always remain secondary to me, never my primary goal. If it becomes my primary goal or you notice that, PLEASE call me on it. My contact link is at the top, seriously, please do. Because IF that ever happens, then at that point, I've lost the plot :)
Thanks for stopping by and reading,
